Photo Walk in Historic Handley

Photo Walk in Historic Handley

January has been quite a month at Photos On The Vine!

We have held a Digital Photography Class, a Studio Lighting Class, and then a Photo Walk. We have also had many studio sessions. 2017 is off to a great start and we are glad you are here with us.

Our Photo Walk was led by professional photographer and lighting master, Robert Trawick of Oklahoma. It was fun to socialize with other photographers while enjoying cheese and wine and then heading out to photograph models, storefronts, and even trains, in Historic Handley.

Here is a behind the scenes video from Jason Jones

Our first stop was at Crème De La Crème and here are some behind the scenes at  Crème de la Crème. We started our walk at about 8:00 p.m. at night. We were outdoors on the sidewalk, shooting into the store front glass at night. Robert used multiple speedlights and one flash modifier, the Speedbox 70 from XP PhotoGear.

What a beautiful final image!

One would never know this was an outdoor night time shoot. I especially love how well it is lit inside the shop, even showcasing one of their store signs.

We then went to The Ozzie Rabbit Lodge, a bar west of Photos On The Vine. The Speedbox 70 is set up outside on the subject, and an additional flash is firing from inside the bar, out towards us.

(Please forgive my “hot flash” behind the scene photos. However, this shows the mistake often made of using flash on camera, and then at night!)

Below are the images from Robert Trawick using 2 off camera flashes- one with the Speedbox 70 and one inside the bar.

This is beautiful light and so flattering on the subjects. Thanks to Jo, one of our photo walk attendees for being such a great model!  Also thank you to our new friends who were leaving the bar and were excited to be a part of our fun as well.

Our next stop was the Underground Cigar Shop. Below is the final image from Robert Trawick.

And finally, the Railroad Museum in Historic Handley. We had no idea what an incredible treasure this was, and so close to our studio!

Thank you to all who attended. We hope to have another Photo Walk in the late Spring, so be sure to follow us on social media to stay in touch with what is happening at Photos On The Vine!

We are currently setting up the class schedules for February, and are adding a new class to the list of regular classes. We will also be having a special event night in honor of Valentines Day. Look for these updates in the next few days.

The Digital Photography Class teaches basic-advanced camera functions. Learn what is ISO and how it can affect your photographs; learn the difference between aperture and shutter speed. With this Digital Photography Class, attendees will leave seeing light and motion in a new way.

The Studio Lighting Class shows different methods of how to set up a studio and which types of lights are best for different types of photography. If you have wondered what goes into putting together a location studio, or a studio for your home, this is the perfect class to learn more. The class also includes taking photographs with the different types of lights and to get your “feet wet” with studio lighting. These classes are held in the studio, after about a 20 minute social gathering.
