Shoot, Paint, Print

In this Special Event photography workshop led by both Xavier and Patrice, photographers will begin in the studio photographing a model and will then take their images into PhotoShop to paint the image, creating a final portrait that will be ready to print.

Many topics will be covered:

Studio Lighting:

• Working with studio lights. Using lights we use in our studio. Placing a main and fill light to create the desired look for highlights and shadows. Working with the fall of light, feathering and shaping light. How to change a basic lighting set up to create a more dramatic lighting effect to create a dramatic portrait.
• How to get a proper exposure in the studio- using a meter for the main and fill light.

Posing:

• How to pose a subject for a basic head and shot portrait

Creating a Dramatic Portrait:

• We will be pinning hair, using fabrics to create a dramatic piece that we will take into photoshop.

PhotoShop

• Students should already have a basic knowledge of photoshop. Beginning and Advanced Classes are offered in advance of this class so be sure to have basic knowledge of processing your files, making color adjustments.  The focus of our time in PhotoShop will be to turn out photograph into a painting, using specific brushes and effects. Students will leave the class with a final edited, painted photograph ready to print.

This photography workshop will be a great opportunity to learn how to create a beautiful photograph in a studio, how to edit the photograph in photoshop and how to paint the image in photoshop to create a finished piece of Photographic Art.

Class Size is limited to ten

Students will need their camera, batteries, flash card, and laptop.  We will be taking a one hour break in between the shoot and editing segments so attendees may use that break time to go grab a quick dinner.
